Recently Javkhaa got tickets to a local baseball game--the Norfolk Tides. "We" won, something like 10-3. It was fun--Javkhaa's first game (in person, anyway). Can you find him in the picture? ;)

Hi! I started to write something last Friday but ran out of time. To be honest, I wanted to put some links in my blog but they weren't working properly. (That attempt remains a draft until I can take a few minutes to figure out what I did wrong.)

However, since it has now been almost TWO weeks since we added anything here, I thought I'd better at least add a new picture. So here are three, along with some rather disconnected thoughts.

The picture is of my friend Charis, sent after a week bumping around the countryside with a van full of students. You go, girl. :) Enjoy a nice hot bath (or a shower) whenever you want, some air conditioning, real coffee (and your favorite creamers) and fun remembering the trip when you get home (home?) this summer. And zaaval nad ruu utastarai, za yu??!! :)

We are thankful for a good report from Charlotte and David about their wonderful and healthy little baby Silas, who made it safely into this world a couple of weeks ago. Thank you Father!



Hooray for my mom, who was able to find our blog online. :) Three cheers for mom! (Next time, she'll know to click "publish" after she writes her comments and then you'll all know what she thinks. :) I know she wanted to say hello to Urnaa and Badaa!)

It's now 7.47 and I'm still in my office. (Must go soon!) This morning I got my Virginia driver's license: who ever knew I'd be sentimental about losing my PA residency??!! But somehow I was sorry to say goodbye to my new Pennsylvania license with my new last name...

A little about our new state: The seal adopted in 1931 by the state of Virginia is based on a design from 1776. The front side shows Virtue, dressed as an Amazon, Triumphant over Tyranny. She holds a spear and a sheathed sword. Tyranny grasps a broken chain, and his crown lies fallen nearby. The back of the seal displays the Roman Goddess of eternity, liberty, and, agriculture. Hmm... (and once again, I'm being technologically thwartd. Trying to get the state seal in here...)

Another Friday night at Regent...

Wish I felt that bright-eyed and bushy-tailed--ha!! Last Friday night we were here in the computer lab finishing up different projects... This week, Javkhaa went to a SIFE (Students In Free Enterprise) meeting, so I am here at my desk, checking email and looking for other blogs on Mongolia. I had some yogurt for sustanance and wish I'd brought my contacts' case and glasses (my eyes are tired after a day in front of the computer!).

My mom called at 4.30 just to say hi. She sounded happy. She's looking forward to seeing my sister, her husband and mom's FIRST AND ONLY GRANDBABY this coming Monday, so I'm sure she's counting the days.


Hey! I just (finally) read some more of your comments--THANKS to everyone who wrote! :) I hope we can make this blog a little more interesting, as time goes by. (Sidenote: we just watched Casablanca about a week ago, Javkhaa's first time.) :) Anyway, if y'all have ideas or want to introduce topics, please let us know. I'd also like to figure out a way to put a list of prayer requests up.

Well, the SIFE meeting is over (and I have a piece of pizza to eat!) so I'm going to end this here. More again soon! :)

Homesick for Hovd (and Mongolia!)

Just a postscript--

I really do miss my students, colleagues and friends in Mongolia! Even more when I'm reminded of the milestones I can't be there for. Here's a picture of the first graduating class of English majors at the University. My students for 2 years, David has worked with them this year and now they are about to take their national exams (June 6 or 7). Please remember them, that they would do their best on the written and oral exams that day.


Please also remember David and his wife Charlotte, who will travel to UB soon (with cute son Titus, front left in pic) in order for baby # 2 to be born, there in Mongolia's capital city. Please pray for safe travel (and a direct flight!), as well as a safe delivery for mom and little one.

While J is in class...

I'm here, at my desk, thinking about the (many!) various and sundry things I have to do... one of which is communicate more regularly with friends far and near. Mostly far.

Just recently I discovered my friend Sarah's blog, and was inspired.

I don't have much news to report. We've been at our new home in Virginia for about a month now, and are feeling more settled in. Still looking around and praying for the right fellowship to attend. Of course, nowhere is perfect, but we want a place where we can both learn and grow, and someplace that feels like it could become home for us. We've visited wonderful churches, but do not yet have a sense that any of them are that home.

My mom is doing really well these days; thank you to those of you who have prayed for her! Janelle (my baby sister) is coming up north in a few weeks for her baby's dedication (or christening, i'm not sure which), so I hope we will also be able to take a road trip and be there to celebrate with her and Paul.

I really should get some other things done during my 2 free hours till Javkhaa finishes his class. Till then, have a blessed day!
